The First Ingredient:
Together the three co-founders' unique education, skills and experiences combine to create the SOOC learning environment. We help districts translate years of stagnant PD, into dynamic learning experiences to move teachers forward professionally. We might not look like the typical startup...but it is what we bring to the table that makes the difference.
The Second Ingredient:
Our SOOCs. There is nothing quite like a SOOC in content or experience. We combine our SOOCs with well-designed implementation plans to support district capacity but the SOOC is at the heart of what we do. Beyond workshops, online courses and MOOCs, our SOOCs embody personalized learning, building communities that engage participants, model best practice, improve completion rates and support transference to classroom practice.

We do this by applying two concepts to our SOOC design. The first is focusing on "meta-teaching" - teachers must approach every task as both a learner and a teacher, constantly aware of their own learning and how it will affect their practice and their students learning. A big task.
The second we call PI, no not private investigators, "Participant Instructors". All instructors in the SOOC are co-learners and co-constructors of knowledge. We don't just monitor and assess, we participate. We become part of the learning community. And that makes a world of difference.
